Douglas M. Todd, the author of “Restoration and History of Old Saratoga Barns and the Coast of Maine” has graciously donated his book to be sold as a fundraiser for the Friendship library expansion project.

The book tells the story of the dismantling of old barns from the Saratoga, New York area to be repurposed as a summer house on Flood’s Cove in Friendship. Color photos throughout the book show the construction of a lovely place for the Todd family to gather. It delves into the history of the property and its owners back to the Native Americans (including Samoset) and the progression of ownership to the present. The author, who first came to Friendship in the 1950s, spent two years researching and writing this great addition to the list of books that have been written about our town and its history.

All proceeds from the sale of the book go directly to the expansion project. It is available at the library for the suggested donation of $25 or more. These can also be mailed.
